New Production Space Strengthens Manufacturing Historic Halls Come Back to Life
In the 1980s, company founder August Krampe began producing the first body trailers in Lette, a district of Coesfeld in the Münsterland region of Germany. By 1993, the 1,000th trailer had already rolled off the line. Production continued in Lette until 2009, when the company relocated to the former military barracks in the neighbouring Coesfeld district of Flamschen.
Today, more than 1,200 vehicles leave the new production halls each year. With the Radium silage wagon and the new FlexBody three-way tipper expanding the product portfolio, a significant increase in output is expected. To accommodate the growing space requirements, Krampe is expanding its capacities — and thus the original production site is now being brought back to life.
The site is located just five kilometres from the main plant. The halls, each roughly 900 m² in size and equipped with overhead cranes, reinforced industrial flooring, wide gates, and generous outdoor areas, are ideal for expanding production. The reactivation creates additional capacity and reconnects the company’s historic roots with modern growth.
At the end of 2025, final assembly of the FlexBody three-way tippers and selected Carrier models commenced in the Lette halls. Relocating these operations significantly relieves the main production in Flamschen.
Investment in Modern Manufacturing
Parallel to the reactivation of the former plant, Krampe is investing in a new 7,600 m² building at the main site in Flamschen. A new production line is being constructed at the northern section of the factory grounds, where the FlexBody and Radium models will in future be assembled. In addition to a modern sheet-metal processing centre, additional welding robots and a laser welding centre are being installed. With this investment, Krampe is consistently pursuing a high level of vertical integration and a high degree of automation — both key pillars of the corporate strategy.
With the reactivated halls in Lette and the new building in Flamschen, the total covered production area will increase by around 25 percent. In addition to expanding the facilities, Krampe is also strengthening its sales and service teams in preparation for sustainable growth.
With these investments, the company is creating the conditions to meet rising market demands while securing long-term competitiveness. The expansions also safeguard qualified jobs in the region.
