Krampe expands capacity for the FlexBody and Radium 7,600 m² extra hall space is planned

Krampe is welcoming two new additions to its portfolio this year with the introduction of the Radium silage transport wagon and the new FlexBody three-way tipper. The test and prototype vehicles were recently presented, and the pilot series are now being used for this year’s harvest. Once they have been introduced to the general public at Agritechnica in November, both vehicles should go into series production.

Lots of action on the company site
To prepare the facilities for the increase in production, construction work at the site in Coesfeld is in full swing. One of the old halls was demolished at the beginning of April and preparations for the new buildings have begun.

Over the next 12 months, a large new building will be constructed in the northern section of the site. It will provide an additional 7,600 m2 of space and represents a major step for further growth and for the future of the site. The new FlexBody and Radium vehicles will be built here. The high degree of in-house manufacturing and automation will also be maintained in the new hall. It will house a new sheet-metal centre with a fully automated laser, a laser welding facility and other conventional welding robots.

Four bays for more trailers
Three new bays are being built next to an existing production hall. The first will offer space for another laser and for sheet metal prefabrication, while the second and third will be fitted out as a welding shop. Components will also be premanufactured and then prepared for painting in these two bays too.

Across from the three bays, on the eastern side, another building is planned that will function as a logistics centre and house the blasting unit. With heating via district heat from a biogas plant, air-conditioning in summer and a sizeable photovoltaic system to produce electricity, the building meets all the latest sustainability standards.

The new building should be finished by March 2026. The various machines and systems then need to be installed and commissioned. Production is planned to start from June 2026. Until then, the three-way tippers and silage transport wagons will be produced alongside other vehicles in existing halls.

From old into new
The halls on the old site in Coesfeld-Lette have now been recommissioned. The final assembly of the FlexBody three-way tipper and parts of the Carrier series will be done on this site, which is around 5.5 km from the main site. The assembly of the more complex Radium silage transport wagons will stay on the main site so that the process can benefit from the short feedback routes and rapid optimisations in regular meetings.

Seeking new Krampe colleagues
Alongside the construction of the new halls and the procurement of the associate machinery, Krampe is also currently on the lookout for qualified people that can operate the necessary machines and produce new trailers. In addition to traditional advertising such as print ads, radio and cinema spots, Krampe also offers career evenings including speed dating with Robin Krampe and various department heads. The response has been great, much to the delight of the vehicle manufacturer as its goal is to find 40-50 new members of staff by the end of the year.
